Dennard's Court Case Pushed to February
"The biggest issue obviously is that one of the charges is a felony," Attorney Terry Dougherty said.
A former Nebraska cornerback accused of punching a Lincoln Police officer won't be in court until February.
Alfonzo Dennard's attorney, Terry Dougherty appeared in Lancaster County Court to ask for the continuance.
He told the judge he needs more time to prepare Dennard's case.
According to police, the ex-Husker punched an officer in the face during a fight outside a downtown Lincoln bar in April.
He's facing felony charges.
"The biggest issue obviously is that one of the charges is a felony. That is something we are very concerned about and something we want to deal with at trial. That's the reason for having a trial because we have them," Dougherty said.
Dennard's hearing will be scheduled during a court term that starts on February fourth.
