LSO Deputy Finds Suspected Drug Money on Interstate 80

Updated: Tue 11:37 AM, Jan 22, 2013

A large amount of money and some marijuana was discovered on Interstate 80 Friday night.

A deputy from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office pulled over a Mercury Mountaineer with Minnesota plates for swerving and an improper lane change. LSO said two men were smoking marijuana at the time.

$45,430 was found hidden in the bottom of seats, as well as 17 grams of marijuana and five marijuana cigarettes.

"We believe that money was headed to another state to purchase marijuana," Sheriff Terry Wagner said.

Medi Opiew and James Moore, both from Minnesota, were arrested for possession of money used to facilitate the manufacturing or delivery of illegal substance.
