Woman Reacts to Man Damaging Neighborhood Saturday Morning

It was a strange way to wake up Saturday morning for Cindy Rice.

"My dog was barking loudly and then I realized someone was banging on my front door," said Rice. "When I asked who it was, they said it was police officers."

Several people lost sleep after a driver caused damage to their neighborhood.

Police say a car hit a light pole on near 89th and Pine Lake Road. The driver ended up in Rice's driveway.

"It [the car] had gone over my lawn furniture and tree and into my car. Several neighbors were awaken by it on more than one block, and they were gathering around to see what was going on," she said.

Witnesses say the driver backed into a house.

They also say the man attempted to flee from the scene when police arrived.

"Once he got out of his car, I was told he was throwing things around had to be chased by officers, subdued here so not a good morning for him."

The Lincoln Police Department is still waiting on the report from this accident. We'll talk to Rice at 6. We will have more information as it becomes available.
