One North Platte woman says she had a small idea to help others in need, hoping it would catch on and others would do the same.
Turns out that idea wasn't so small after all, and many people are coming together and lending a helping hand.
There's a group of people on Facebook that are making life a little easier for others.
"If you look at it there will be a post and then all of a sudden there will be all of these comments and people are just going out of their way to help," said Brandy Davy from North Platte.
The group is called Lending A Helping Hand, and it has over 5,000 members.
"I kind of watched for a couple of days and I was like I'm going to post and see if I can get some help," said Davy.
It worked because the group is all about paying it forward.
"And we just help families that are in need, struggling, or just down on their luck," said Tracy Wiezorek with Lending A Helping Hand.
The group started just over two years ago in Lincoln County.
"And it grew like wildfire, and now it is statewide," said Wiezorek.
They've already helped hundreds and hundreds of families.
"Just in the last week alone, we've had six anonymous donors go to utility companies in Nebraska and pay off other people's bills," said Wiezorek.
Brandy Davy says she's thankful for the help she received. She needed clothes and other things for her kids.
"Now that we are doing better we've been donating what we don't need and my son's old stuff," said Davy.
The hope is to leave a lasting impression.
"If you helped them one time in their time of need they will remember you," said Wiezorek.
"I still look at it just about everyday just to see whats all going on," said Davy.
