Fairbury Police Asking For Help Locating Sex Offender

The Fairbury Police Department is asking for your help in locating a subject on multiple counts of sexual assault charges and evading law enforcement.

Arrest warrants have been filed against 30-year-old Billy J. Barritt of Fairbury. Charges stem from an investigation done by the Fairbury Police Department that resulted in charges of one count of 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a child, Class 1B Felony; and three counts of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, Class 3A Felony. Information received indicated that the sexual assaults have been going on for over a year with multiple children under the age of 10.

According to police, when Barritt learned of the investigation he left his residence and law enforcement have not been able to locate him.

Barritt is a lifetime registered sex offender out of Madison County. Barritt is currently on probation for being a Felon in Possession of Firearm out of Jefferson County.

Police say because Barritt has access to weapons, he should be considered possibly armed.

Barritt is believed to be traveling between Fairbury and the Norfolk area in a black 1997 Chevy K1500 pickup bearing Nebraska license plate number 33commercial2172.

Barritt is described as 5'07, 180 lbs., brown eyes, balding brown hair and glasses. Anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement or the Fairbury Police Department at (402)-729-3355.
