Fairbury Woman Arrested After Police Say She Stole More Than $17,000

A Fairbury woman is facing charges after police say she stole money from a woman who trusted her.

On Tuesday, Fairbury Police arrested 48-year-old Ruth Dux for theft and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.

During the investigation police discovered Dux wrote over $17,000 in checks that were unauthorized. Police say Dux had power of attorney over the victim.

Investigations spoke with the victim and care takers and they confirmed that the checks written were not in the interest of the victim and signatures were forged.
