He's gone now, but Mark Schoenrock is sure he will see his nephew again.
Police found Tyler Schoenrock's body early Sunday morning.
After investigating, they confirmed the cause of death as murder.
On Thursday afternoon, friends and family gathered at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to lay Schoenrock to rest.
"We know that he's now in a better place," said Mark Schoenrock, "and we will all have the opportunity to see him again once our time here on the earth is done."
The 25-year-old was an independent truck driver with a girlfriend and young son.
"He was very proud when his son was born a little over a year ago, and he just loved that little boy. He was here today in his remembrance. He looks just like his dad."
Tyler and his siblings lived with Mark for awhile in Colorado.
"I'm a retired army officer. I would wear a uniform to work. He wanted a uniform also so my wife made him a battle brass uniform so he could wear one too. He was very proud of that battle brass uniform."
Although the investigation is still in process, and many questions have been left unanswered, family members are just focusing on their memories of their loved one.
"We won't remember the things of the last four days. We'll remember who he was and the wonderful young man that he was."
