With Christmas less than a week away, finding joy in the Season of Joy can be a hard thing to do right now for many.
And with the nation still mourning the lives lost in Connecticut, the challenge for local religious leaders is to keep their flock focused on staying joyful during the season of Advent.
After all, for Christians, the birth of Jesus Christ is the reason for celebration.
Father Matthew Zimmer, of North American Martyrs Church in Lincoln told 1011 News, "We have a Savior and the Savior doesn't leave...the Savior doesn't go away when bad things happen."
And while joy can be pretty elusive to find when terrible things happen, Zimmer says the birth of Christ reminds us of what is truly important in life.
"He's there to give us comfort, to give us hope," said Zimmer.
