Firefighters are battling a fire which has burnt at least 1,500 acres in Nebraska National Forest.
According to US. Forest Service District Ranger Tim Buskirk, the fire was spotted around 1:00 Saturday afternoon. Lightning is believed to be what started the fire.
The fire is located near the White Tail Campground and about 8 miles south of the Bessey Recreational Center, south of the town of Halsey.
Buskirk said the fire is being driven by east winds and has consumed over 1,500 acres so far.
According to Buskirk, local volunteer fire departments and some federal firefighting resources have battled the blaze all day. More federal resources are expected to arrive Sunday.
