Firefighters quickly put out a fire at 3220 S Street Monday afternoon.

According to Battalion Chief Bruce Sellon, a neighbor saw smoke and reported the fire around 2:30 p.m. Nobody was home at the time. It appears the fire started in the back of the house, possibly the kitchen.

Firefighters had to knock out the windows in the older two-story home to put it out. It was extinguished in about 15 minutes.
