Filing up the escalators, fans were eager to see their teams hit the court.
"It's a great venue for our kids to come play in, very comfortable and a good place to watch games," said fan Greg Wemhoff.
In its first year of operation the Pinnacle Bank Arena hosted its first day of the three day Girls State Tournament. Providing a state of the art experience for these high school fans.
"You can always know what's going on, even if you miss it you can see it later. If you want to know about a foul, who's who, you can tell by looking at the screens," said Sidney High School fan Kelsey Knight.
For decades Nebraska High School Basketball teams have dreamed of making it to the Devany Sports Center in March, but know it's time for Lincoln's Crown Jewel to shine on this Championship Weekend.
"Devany has got a lot of history, but it's kind of cool to start this place out being the first high school team to play in it and win it," said Grand Island Northwest fan Nate Montanez.
Fans from both sides say that the size and cutting edge technology of the new arena made for a rowdy game atmosphere.
"Makes everybody way more excited, way more pumped up, especially when it's state," said Sidney fan Abbey Mills.
