Ryan Mcelhose planned on spending the holidays with his family in Zimbabwe. His flight was scheduled to leave on Wednesday evening, but he's stuck in Lincoln.

"I was headed to Chicago so I could go to Zimbabwe for Christmas, so I could go see family and hang out with family," said Mcelhose.

United Airlines cancelled all flights to and from Chicago and Denver for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

"I'm really nervous, especially with the circumstances now," he said, "it just makes me think what would we have to do to get to the next step."

Later, they cancelled the remaining flights in and out of Lincoln.

The airlines recommends fliers reschedule their flights as soon as possible.

Several flights in or out of Omaha are cancelled as well.

"'We were gonna head to Denver," said Kyle Curry. "We were actually going to fly out of Omaha, but our flight got cancelled for tomorrow morning so we came here to see if we could catch on to Denver tonight, but it obviously got cancelled."

Now these fliers could be forced to wait until Sunday to finally board a plane.
