Floodwaters from the bulging South Platte River in North Platte have begun to affect homes in the area.
Authorities say homes are taking on water in the 800 block of South Vine Street, and some basements are getting flooded.
On Sycamore and West Phillip Street, half of the street is under water.
Homes in the neighborhood have sandbags around them.
Unfortunately, there is nothing they can do but wait and hope the water level starts going down.
People in the neighborhood say they can’t believe what they are seeing.
Also, the city is hard at work blocking off the streets in this area.
According to NEMA, the South Platte River in North Platte reached 14.29 feet on Sunday.
As of 11:00 AM Saturday, the South Platte River water levels were reported at 13.83 feet and not expected to rise much further.
It is unclear at this point if the river will continue to rise in the coming days.
