Flu season is in Nebraska early this year. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said in a press release that two cases of the flu have been confirmed in Douglas County.
Health experts advise everyone six months and older to get the vaccine, as long as they are not allergic to eggs or the vaccine, or have had Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Health official said although the flu arrived early, the nice weather is helping the virus from spreading more quickly.
"It has helped because a lot of people are then outside where it's more difficult to spread the influenza virus, because that virus likes closed corridors where people are more likely to be closer to each other and spreading it," said Katie Wichman of the Central District Health Department.
Those who dislike needles can also opt for FluMist, a nasal spray vaccine. FluMist is available for healthy individuals 2-49 years old.
