Friends, Colleagues say Former Judge will be Missed

Updated: Wed 6:17 AM, Jan 16, 2013

Those who knew him say William "Bill" Blue will be missed.

The former district court judge was found dead Monday near Legacy Estates.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning, but police say they do not suspect foul play.

Blue and Bernie McGinn were friends and colleagues.

McGinn says he was shocked when he saw reports of Blue's death.

He says from their early days working together at the county attorney's office, to serving as judges, meeting for lunch and fishing together, he remembers a man whom he calls a mentor.

McGinn says, "He was a lawyer's lawyer. Had the reputation of being a student of the law, very thorough, not flamboyant. And then as a judge he was a judge's judge. He was someone to be looked up to and copied. So I'll miss him."

Blue was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln.

Pastor Johnston describes him as someone who enjoyed his life and made a mark on others.

He says Blue was beloved by his fellow church members and will be sorely missed.
