Friends Collecting Donations for Families of Car Crash Victims

Updated: Fri 9:27 AM, Nov 18, 2011

The passenger in a car crash that killed a Lincoln teen was released from the hospital Thursday.

Friends say Gia Ryles a Senior at Lincoln High went home and is doing very well considering everything that's happened.

They say she has bad whiplash and her liver is expected to heal completely.

Thursday night friends and family gathered outside Lincoln High school to remember Cayliss Mothershed.

Ryles and Mothershed were in a car that slammed into a concrete support pillar Monday afternoon.

Now with the help of local businesses friends are collecting donations to help both families.

Mercedes Greenwood has known Cayliss since 4th grade and organized the vigil Thursday night. She says, "They're a big part of my family and I feel like since we're part of a family, so I feel like I need to do this for them, because I know that they would do it for me."

Haylie Harding also knew Cayliss since 1st grade. She says, "It's nice knowing how many people loved her. And her knowing that she's seeing it and seeing how many people really truly loved her."

If you'd like to donate, you can drop off money at Super C near Lincoln high school through Friday afternoon or members of the student council will be circulating containers during school on Friday.

Services for Cayliss Mothershed are Saturday at 11 am.
