G.I. Child Sexual Assault Trial Moved to Lincoln

The child sex assault trial of a Grand Island man is being moved to Lincoln.

Judge James Livingston last week granted a request by the lawyer for 27-year-old Abraham Richardson.

Defense attorney Gerry Piccolo had said pretrial publicity and other factors would make it difficult to seat an impartial jury in Hall County.

Livingston rescheduled the trial to begin April 29 in Lancaster County District Court.

Richardson has pleaded not guilty to three felony charges: sexual assault of a child, kidnapping and first-degree assault. He's accused of abducting a 4-year-old girl from an apartment in October 2011 and assaulting her.

In August Richardson was given 20 years in a federal prison for receiving and distributing child pornography.
