In Sutton at the park pavilion the Can Care-A-Van drive is underway. Despite slower than previous years, the 5,000 pound goal, was exceeded. A final total of 7,668 pounds, 1000 pounds more than last year.
Earlier in the morning Miss Nebraska Junior Teen Naomi Snider came in and donated more than 100 pounds of food individually. She also mentioned she's going to be hitting up the other drives and donating there as well.

I love helping my community and doing what I can to help the ones in need because there's always someone out there who needs something in their lives. Cause this is not only helping your community, but you don't notice how it's helping your world."
The recipient of this year's 10/11 Can Care-A-Van spirit award is Brown's Thrift Store and they're very excited and humbled to be receiving it.
A lot of monetary donations helped the drive exceed the 5,000 pound goal so quickly. One dollar equals two pounds of food.
