It's a store that opens it's doors only three days a year, just for the holidays, just for people in need.
It's called Gifts of Love.
The gifts are donated by members of the community.
This year though, donations are down $6,000- $8,000.
City Impact, the local non-profit organizing the event is asking either for item donations or money.
You can drop off your donated items either at the First Baptist Church on 14th and 'K' streets, at City Impact at 27th and 'R' or any Walgreens store in Lincoln.
The store is open December 13-15th.
Shopping times for "Gifts of Love":
December 13th: 6-9 p.m.
December 14th: 9:30--2 p.m., 6:00 p.m.--9:00 p.m.
December 15th: 9 a.m.--5:00 p.m.
Last year, over $85,000 of new items (toys, electronics, clothing, financial investments and other holiday gift items) were donated to support more than 1,500 children and their families. Beyond a handout, the store offers new gifts at a substantial discount, 70% off, allowing need-qualified Lincoln & Lancaster County parents or guardians to provide for their children with dignity.
All 1,500 spots for this year's store were filled in just 3 days of registration. All 1,000+ volunteer spots have been filled!
City Impact, a faith-based, non-profit organization impacting youth and families in Lincoln's urban neighborhoods, is conducting its 16th annual "Gifts of Love" Community Christmas Store.
