Lincoln, Neb.-- The Center for People in Need gave away hundreds of items to low-income Lincoln families in their Client Giveaway Event.
According to one volunteer, more than 800 families entered the center's doors Saturday.
Clothes, hardware and personal hygiene products were just a few of thousands of items available.
Beatty Brasch, the center's executive director, says providing these items can help alleviate some financial worries.
"They can save money on some of the products they have to have," Brasch said, "so that they can pay rent and utilities."
Brasch said families lined up as early as 6:30 a.m., and that the center had to open their doors an hour earlier than expected.
"We're very happy we can do this," Brasch said, " because we certainly want to help them maintain stability.
"These are the types of products they need in their house or to help their kids."
