“I’m humbled and honored by Gov. Heineman’s appointment,” said Director Kenney. “I’m committed to meeting the challenges currently faced by the department. I’m confident in our ability to meet these challenges with public safety being the top priority.”
Prior to becoming Warden of the Omaha Correctional Center, Kenney served as Warden of the Nebraska Correctional Youth Facility in Omaha where he provided oversight for a 100 bed violent youth facility. He served as Warden of the Nebraska State Penitentiary from 1999 – 2006 where he provided executive oversight, leadership and management. Additionally, he has served as Warden of the Lincoln Correctional Center and Superintendent of the Hastings Correctional Center.
Kenney has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Doane College and has completed graduate level courses in Ethics and Counseling.
