"No, I've never seen a tree pulled up by its roots." - Lincoln Resident
Near 27th and Potter in Lincoln, several neighbors saw it happen; a massive tree, bending in the gusty winds, finally snapped in two.
It came crashing down just inches away from the home it had provided shade for, going back decades.
No one was hurt when the huge tree slammed onto the ground, but it made quite an impression on neighbors.
"No, I've never seen a tree pulled up by its roots," said one woman.
Meanwhile, drivers across Nebraska had to deal with wind gusts that whipped across highways, making driving difficult.
The state patrol warned of "brown outs," which are similar to white outs, in that drivers can't see, because of dust and dirt blowing in the air.
