Clay County, NE-- A Hastings couple and their daughter are dead after their vehicle was hit by a semi-truck early Thursday. The couple's son was seriously injured in the crash.
According to Clay County Attorney Ted Griess, 26-year old Tiffany Isom has been pronounced dead after a Thursday accident. The woman died in the hospital just days after the crash which killed her parents.
Griess said 53 year-old Gary Isom, and his wife, 52 year-old Susan Isom died in the accident.
Their teenage son was also injured. His condition is not yet known.
The Hastings family was traveling east on Highway 6 around 5:15 a.m. Thursday. At the same time a semi, driven by Kenneth Johnson of Eagle, was traveling south on Highway 14.
According to police, Johnson missed the stop sign at the intersection and struck the SUV. Johnson was arrested after the accident.
On Friday Griess filed charges for two counts of manslaughter against Johnson. He said he plans to file a third count this week. Additional charges may also be filed.
The investigation is still ongoing, including whether or not alcohol may have played a factor in the accident.
