HASTINGS, Neb. -- Hastings Police said a 17-year-old who escaped while being taken to the Adams County Courthouse on Thursday, turned himself in early Sunday morning.

Hastings Police said Zachary Vaught turned himself in around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Vaught escaped from the Adams County Courthouse.

Hastings Police say Vaught got away as deputies were transporting him from a squad car to the Adams County Courthouse.

Court records said he pleaded no contest in July of 2013 to a second degree assault charge and a second charge was dismissed. A judge sentenced Vaught to two years of intense supervised probation.
