Abandoned Home Destroyed by Fire | Vine Street Reopens to Traffic

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews say a home is destroyed after a fire on Thursday.

LFR crews responded to a structure fire near 26th and Vine Streets just after 8:30 p.m.

Neighbors in the area tell 10/11 News the home is abandoned and the city red tagged it a few weeks ago.

LFR crews said the home was too full of debris for crews to gain entry, so they determined the best course of action was to let the fire burn through the house.

Crews stayed on scene monitoring hot spots for hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Traffic was rerouted on westbound Vine street while crews battled the flames .
