Lincoln, Neb. The Husker Men's Basketball Team found out Sunday evening during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show, they made the big dance.
The team hosted a watch party at Pinnacle Bank arena that started at 4:00pm Sunday.
Husker fans showed up at the watch party at PBA with high hopes that the team would make it into the tournament.
Kyle Warday, a student, said beforehand, "You know, I think we're going to make it in. I think we're going to get a 10 or 11 seed."
With all the tension in the stands - Husker fans were on their toes as they waited to find out. The Husker Band and the Husker cheerleaders kept fans pumped up until it was announced that the Husker team had made it into the tournament and they would play Baylor.
One fan, Andrew Kroeger, said, "I've gone to basketball games all the time, been through high points and low points."
And as the UNL student section roared, today was definitely a high point.
For some this moment today was historical.
"Tears, tears, in my eyes, just joy. I've been coming to games since December 1976," said Steve Barnard.
Many fans were excitedly talking about what the chances were that UNL plays Creighton a week from today. The Huskers and the Jays have not been in the tournament at the same time since 1991.
Behind Big Ten Coach of the Year Tim Miles, the Huskers finished the regular season with a 19-12 record following a 71-67 loss to No. 24 Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals. The Huskers, who are looking for their first NCAA bid since 1998, enter the postseason winners of 10 of their last 13 contests.
