LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Husker linebacker was arrested Monday, along with another student athlete, after UNL police found him with seven stolen bikes.

Nineteen-year-olds Josh Banderas and Lucas Keifer are facing charges for theft by unlawful taking and possession of burglar tools.

UNL Police tell 10/11 News that just before 5 p.m. Monday, they received a report of two men using bolt cutters to take bikes off campus.

UNL Police Sergeant Doug Petersen said that Banderas and another man were stopped in a gray pickup near Antelope Valley Parkway and M Street. Sergeant Petersen says the men admitted to officers that they had taken the bikes from campus. According to police reports, the two were planning on selling the bikes on Craigslist.

The stolen bikes are estimated to be worth more than $1,600.

Keifer is listed on the Huskers track and field and cross country teams. Both men are graduates of Lincoln Southwest High School.
