Husker fans unofficially set a new world record Saturday for the World's Largest Softball Tailgate.
1,752 came through the gates at Bowlin Stadium for free hot dogs, chips and soda--and to see the game versus Wisconsin.
The record topped Big Ten foe Illinois 2007 record of 1,445.
Marketing Associate Andy Wenstrand says the whole idea came from the Huskers head coach.
Wenstrand told 10/11, "Rhonda Revelle our head coach was very passionate about making sure that we take some of the ideas that the Big Ten are doing and doing successfully and show them, we can play in the Big Ten, not just in softball and baseball and the other sports, but we can do it on marketing and beat them on attendance games too."
Saturday's crowd at the game was the third-largest in school history.
Fans say it's pretty cool to be apart of a potential world record.
Steve Finney came all the way from Grand Island to take part in the tailgate. He said, "Not surprising with Husker fans!"
Reporter: They're some of the greatest fans?
Steve, "Best in the world."
Maggie Wright added, "It's pretty exciting, they definitely have the best fans here, so I wouldn't be surprised if we can break it!"
