Illegal Control Burn Threatens Homes

An illegal control burn almost turned into a big problem after it got out of control.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to the fire call near S. 81st and Rennata Drive.
When they arrived several trees and a field near some houses were on fire.
Officials say they were fortunate to put the fire out before it spread to any homes.
They say the a landowner was trying to conduct an illegal burn.
Officials say it's far too dry and dangerous for burns right now and you cannot burn without a permit.
