Inmate Found Dead in Cell in Jefferson County

BEATRICE, Neb. -- A staff member of the Jefferson County Jail found an inmate unresponsive and not breathing in a housing cell.

Additional staff was called along with EMS personnel from Jefferson County Ambulance. Twenty-nine-year-old Keylee Gibbons was transported to Jefferson Community Health Center where she was pronounced dead.

Gibbons had been arrested by the Fairbury Police Department on Tuesday evening for possession of controlled substance and possession of legend drugs without prescription.

The death is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol. An autopsy has been ordered. There will be a Grand Jury as the subject was in custody at the time of her death.
