Grand Island, NE The Grand Island water park, Island Oasis, had it's last day open to the public Saturday.
Sunday it hosted a private company picnic that would be their final day of the season.
The 21-year old water park saw a decrease in attendance over the Summer compared to past seasons.
Manager Diane Miller said it was due to colder temperatures and people going to the new pool at Lincoln Park.
Miller said she would have liked to stay open longer, but complications prevented that.
"We chose to close on August 18th because of staffing. We do not have enough certified lifeguards because of football, volleyball, cross country, music. You know lots of things are going on at the high school. Our college kids have already left. Today we're running with pretty much high school kids," said Miller.
Miller said that during the off season, Island Oasis hopes to put in more attractions for children six and under.
However, at this time no plans have been started.
