Jeremiah Roebuck is helping his mentor John Lindenberger raise money for medical expenses.
Jeremiah and John have been spending time together for the last couple of years.
They enjoy hanging out together after school, getting ice cream, going to the park, fixing and riding bikes, and playing video games.
John and Jeremiah spent time together almost every week until John was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in July. Although he's only eight years old, Jeremiah wants to help support John.
After seeing John bald due to treatment, Jeremiah decided he wants to shave his head like his mentor, but he needs the community's support to do it.
Jeremiah says he would ultimately like to raise $1,000 for John, but if he can get $250 he will shave his head.
To help Jeremiah reach his goal, donation jars are set up throughout North Platte.
Jeremiah's mom, Barb Roebuck is planning a soup and chili supper along with a silent auction to benefit John on Saturday Oct. 19.
The supper will be held at the Harvest Christian Fellowship Northwest Campus on Rodeo Road from 4-7 p.m.
Donations of items for the auction as well as ingredients for the supper would be greatly appreciated.
Two of the items available at the auction will be a Husker quilt and a detail package from Keith's Body Shop. There will also be a Washburn electric guitar in addition to the other items.
