LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Lancaster County District Court Judge found two men guilty in connection to the deaths of Shane Walton and Dave Mueller.

In a plea deal, court records show Richard McLaughlin and Tyler Thornburg both pleaded no contest to two charges in court Monday.

Judge John Colborn found both men guilty of manslaughter and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

Originally prosecutors charged McLaughlin and Thornburg with second degree murder, but that was amended to manslaughter.

A third charge of accessory to a felony was dismissed for both men.

Dave Mueller and Shane Walton were beaten to death hours apart on June 29, 2013.

More than four months after the incident, Lincoln Police arrested McLaughlin and Thornburg. Court documents released after their arrest said witnesses told police McLaughlin and several others saw Mueller walk by their house at 14th and Benton and that was enough to attack and rob him.

Witnesses also told police the same men left the home and went to 38th and L Streets where they beat Shane Walton to death.
