Kearney, NE The Kearney City Council unanimously voted to give up to $100,000 to the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce to help market the city's new veterans home.
The advertising the Chamber will create will show what Kearney's plan with the Vets Home is. The city will not just be cutting a check for the $100,000, it will be provided to the Chamber on an as-needed basis.
Kearney Mayor Stan Clouse even asked before the vote if the $100,000 was enough, or should there be more offered.
The mayor said there will be no rise in taxes for the amount because there is plenty in the budget to go to it.
The council said this move is in response to the accusations and comments made by the city of Grand Island. Council members said they are tired of sitting around while Grand Island throws all the punches.
The advertising hopes to set the record straight for Kearney.
