Lincoln Electric System has been made aware of a scam in which a caller threatens immediate disconnection of a customer's electrical service if they do not pay an allegedly late electric bill over the telephone.
LES reminds customers that it will never solicit them for bill payment or financial information through outbound phone calls or online.
LES has credit representatives who may visit a customer home to collect payment. LES credit reps, as well as meter readers, will have company vehicles and identification as an LES employee.
