Several fire crews acted quickly to get a grass fire under control as high winds pushed it towards the People's City Mission.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to the area of 110 Q Street on a report of a grass fire just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Three grass rigs from the Southwest Unit were called for assistance as high winds were causing flames to spread closer to O Street and near a salvage yard.
Crews were able to get the flames under control within 20 minutes. LFR Captain Lloyd Mueller tells 10/11 it was important to get control of the flames as quickly as possible.
"Just with the high hazards of the Mission here. We had multiple people inside this building and with this heavy smoke rolling over here. We definitely don't want to flames to spread to a building," said Mueller.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
