A broken gas main near downtown Lincoln had crews working into the night.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews responded to a reported gas leak at 601 South 21st Street before 8 p.m. Tuesday.
After a quick search, crews discovered a gas main had broken. Black Hills Energy crews spent nearly five hours to digging into the street to get to the main.
A temporary patch was placed after gas fumes were detected in nearby sewer lines. A permanent patch will be installed Wednesday morning.
