If there was an emergency at your home or business, could emergency responders find it easily?
They better be able to. Your life depends on it.
Veteran Lincoln firefighters tell 10/11 News that not always, but often enough, when they respond to a call, it's hard to find an address because the numbers are either too small, or hard to read, because they are dingy or faded.
There are city codes that regulate the size of address numbers, but obviously, not everyone is in compliance.
The problem is if first responders are looking for you and they can't readily find you, time is ticking.
At night, it's even harder to locate places.
So firefighters urge residents and business owners to check out their addresses and make sure they are up to code and can be seen from the street.
