Fire officials said a fire started in a couch could have been worse for the residents of an apartment complex.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a fire alarm in the 4600 block of Briar Rosa about 12:15 Wednesday morning.
Fire Captain Scott Bastin said crews arrived to see residents had evacuated the building. A smoldering couch, with the fire extinguished already was taken outside.
Bastin said crews used fans to get the smoke out of the building before allowing residents to return to their apartments.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
