Investigating the cause of a house fire, officials suspect lightning.
At 3:13 a.m. Saturday, Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were called to a house fire in the 5500 block of W. Chancery Rd.
Battalion Chief Tim Linke said when crews arrived, they found flames coming from the front of the garage area.
Linke said the fire did extend into the house and because of the design of the structure, it was difficult to get to the fire which worked its way into the attic and into different walls.
Nearly 40 minutes after crews first arrived, they considered the fire to be under control.
Neighbors we spoke to said thunder was heard a short time before the fire. The neighbors and police officials said the owners of the house had been on vacation and are returning after learning of the fire.
Fire investigators are working to confirm lightning caused the fire. The dollar amount of damage has yet to be determined..
