Police have taken a two year old child into protective custody after she was found wandering around at 3 a.m. Monday morning.
According to Lincoln Police, the girl walked into the Russ's Market at 17th and Washington. They say someone tried to talk to the girl in the parking lot, but she ran inside.
The two year old was unable to tell employees or officers her name or where she lived. Police checked the area but could not find the child's family.
Then, at 7:30, the child's mother called LPD, hysterical, because her child was not in her bed. Police are interviewing the parents. They say the family lived about two blocks from Russ's Market.
The child's mother was cited for child neglect.
