Lincoln Police said a report of shots fired near 47th and Gladstone, prompted them to alert schools in the area to lockdown.

An LPS spokesperson said Pershing Elementary and Northeast High School were locked down for precautionary reasons. The spokesperson said that lockdown was lifted around 2:55 to 3:00pm when school let out.

Capt. Davidsaver said it started with a domestic disturbance around 1:00pm. He said a woman reported she was in her car trying to drive away when she heard a shot or two fired behind her.

As a result of that, LPD notified schools in the area of the incident. Capt. Davidsaver said a couple schools locked down, but he was not sure which ones. A parent called 10/11 to report her daughter was in lockdown to at Northeast High School.

The LPS spokesperson said the lockdown was handled by the individual schools and that all doors were locked and no one was let in or out of the building.

Capt. Davidsaver said the suspect is at large and officers are searching for him. Police know who he is, but aren't releasing his identity right now. Capt. Davidsaver said officers are still in the area interviewing people.
