Police say a homeless man is behind bars after he was caught stealing from a Lincoln convenient store.

Police say around 2 a.m. Thursday, employees at a U-Stop on 110 West "O" say they found 32-year-old Joseph Rose digging in a trashcan near the business.

Captain Jason Stille says after employees asked Rose to leave, he threatened them. That's when police were called.

After checking surveillance video, officers discovered that Rose had been stealing items from the store overnight including lighters, beef jerky and gum.

Rose was lodged in jail on a felony. He's now facing shoplifting charges.
