The Lincoln Police Department participated in a statewide "Click it or Ticket" enforcement effort from Monday November 19, 2012 through Sunday, November 25, 2012. Special attention by law enforcement officers was directed to those motorists who failed to buckle up themselves, their passengers and children. Funding for this project was provided by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

The Lincoln Police Department issued the following citations during the enforcement project:

Speeding 342
Reckless/Negligent Driving 14
Driving Under the Influence 13
Drug & Drug Paraphernalia 61
Driving Under Suspension 37
No Insurance 243
Felony arrests 2
Warrant arrests 53
Minor in Possession 23
Open Container 5
Seatbelt violations 123
Child seatbelt violations 4
Other traffic citations 158

Total citations issued 1,023
Total warning citations issued 853

Total contacts 1,876

A count of seat belt use was conducted at seven high volume intersections throughout the city both prior to and after the detail. The count reflected an estimated 8.29% increase in seat belt use after the detail was completed.
