Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong says seat belt use among officers will be discussed following an officer's death in a traffic accident.
Tony Howe, of York, died his way to work when his car veered off
Interstate 80 on Jan. 25.
Friday that investigators say Howe was not wearing a seat belt -- and that he rarely did, at least in his own car.
Peschong says he's worried if Howe wasn't buckled in, perhaps other officers haven't made it a habit either. He says it will be a
topic in the command staff meeting.
The department's standards of conduct include a requirement that all employees be belted in while operating or riding in vehicles leased or owned by the city.
