A vintage Chevy car auction is set to sell a number of low-mileage gems in Pierce this weekend.
Organizers are expecting 12,000 to 20,000 people to invade this small town in northeast Nebraska.
Ray Lambrecht opened a car dealership in Pierce in 1946. He and his wife Mildred sold Chevy's for 50 years and closed up shop in 1996.
Yvette VanDerBrink is an auctioneer and the organizer of this colossal event, "They love their Chevy's, it's bow time madness man!"
Yvette says this once in a lifetime auction of 500 Chevrolet's has captured international attention, "We have people here from New Zealand, Denmark, Germany, South Africa, that part is pretty bizarre. This has taken on a life of it's own, it's just amazing."
Yvette organizes car auctions all the time... but this one is unique, "Just the fact that Mr. Lambrecht never sold a trade in and that he kept or held over new inventory, that's just unheard of, it's like a white buffalo."
