The 2013 Legislative Session brings in eleven new senators and 14 committee chairs. Senator Jerry Johnson of the 23rd District is one of the fresh faces.
Johnson, a former mayor of Wahoo, who spent 42 years working in the agricultural industry, says he's relieved to have the election behind him and he's ready to get to work. "The pomp and circumstance is great, it does set you up well, and we're ready to go. " said Johnson.
Thursday will be the first day for the group to introduce bills. The 49-member body includes 30 republicans, 17 democrats and two independents.
