Police and fire inspectors are investigating a house fire as arson.
Police say crews battled the house fire at 6430 South 56th Street in late January.
The Bureau of Fire Prevention announced Tuesday that the fire was a result of arson. Police have interviewed neighbors, witnesses, the resident and homeowner.
Investigators say the fire was reported by a passerby on Jan. 28. Dense fog contributed to the fire smoldering for some time before it was discovered.
When crews arrived, flames were at the front and back of the house.
According to firefighters the house was a total loss.
Investigators are encouraging anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at (402) 475-3600.
