"Spin the wheel of the app and find a restaurant." - Henry Sipp, Lincoln High School Senior
Henry Sipp of Lincoln High School created the "Find My Dinner" iPhone App, call it the "meal of fortune".
"Spin the wheel of the app and find a restaurant," said Henry Sipp, a Lincoln High School Senior who created a new app that is up and running for iPhone use.
"It's called, Find My Dinner. My family and I would be going out to dinner and none of us could agree on what we wanted to eat and I thought of the app one day after watching Wheel of Fortune. I decided to try it out for the summer and see if I could actually create it and here it is today. You can choose from a list, of restaurant categories, get maps to them and you can get reviews as well," said Sipp.
The app was a project for his I-T-F-P (Information, Technology, Focus, Program) class instructed by Joel Sunderman.
"He was very self motivated, very bright and willing to work very hard," said Sunderman.
The time that his wheels started spinning on the idea to making it a full downloadable app was only three months.
"And then to publish it I had to make sure it was ready for users, bug free, and easy to use," said Sipp.
"He just wanted to learn how to program for mobile devices so we went through the steps and he started to run. It was try to play catch up with him after that," said Sunderman.
Sipp hopes his app will help him earn a college scholarship. It's on all his college applications. His top choice is the University of Nebraska.
"There is the Raikes Program at UNL which is a Computer Science and Management program funded by Jeff Raikes who is the CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation," said Sipp.
