Lincoln Woman Arrested For Identity Theft, Stealing

LINCOLN, Neb.-- A 64-year-old Lincoln woman is out more than 14,000 dollars today after police say her translator stole money from her bank account and open credit cards in her name.

Police said 19-year-old Martha Rik went to the bank with the 64-year-old woman to translate, giving her access to the woman's account information. They said she took 12,653 dollars from the accounts and racked up 1,591 dollars on the credit cards at convenient stores, clothing and restaurants.

Police said Rik has an Omaha address, but was located at her mother's house in Lincoln on Thursday.

She was held in jail for theft by deception and identity theft.
